GAI was used in accordance with the University of Dundee’s acceptable uses for GAI and Academic Integrity guidelines, in order to:

  • Support research into a topic or concept to help develop initial understanding and insight. The answers that GAI presents are based on material which can be found on the internet.

  • Help with drafting ideas or suggesting how one might structure one’s own written materials.

  • Summarising longer texts and documents to help check understanding of the key messages and concepts presented.

  • Help to keep one motivated and overcome writer’s block by asking it to generate initial ideas that can be reflected and built on.

  • Helping to improve one's grammar or writing structure, this may be particularly helpful if English is one's second language.
